Sounds like you weren't using the right tool for the job, nor were you wearing protective gloves for cleaning. I feel bad that you were hurt, but I think you are old enough now to understand that "hot oil" + "bare skin" = "oh fuck!" . You need to use longer-handled tools and proper safety equipment, my friend.
There is a silly little thing called OSHA, and they do have standards and practices to protect young people. Maybe you need to point that out to your employer - with your good finger!

See, the thing is, we have a long tea ladle we use to stir the fresh brewed tea container. It hold 5 gallons. 6 if we let it go all the way to the top. It reaches down to the bottom of the container, no problem. It has about an inch of play room, that's fine for tea. But not fine for cleaning out a deep fryer.
