Website Migration - Going Off Port 8000

Hey, everyone!

I'm glad to say that Delorean is humming along swimmingly, and I've had little issues, despite some power outages thanks to Hurricane Sandy.

I'm just letting everyone know ahead of time that I found out my ISP actually lets me run a website off of port 80, so I'm slowly migrating everything over to a big-boy web server configuration.

And for you techies that know anything about webservers (Byte, I'm looking at you), I'm also looking to fix a whole load of flubs I've done in the past to avoid doing real work. My website's configuration is basically a huge tangle of symlinks and a whole load of redirects that are, in a word, bad.

As such, I'm slowly cleaning everything up and properly containing each web service (such as the EGB forums) into its own Apache Virtual Host and fixing my DNS entries. The end goal here will be that all of my sites will be able to sit on its own subdomain with no port numbers and no funny business.

As you might have guessed, I have already pushed out this change to the EGB Forums. Here is the new URL:

http://egb.eagleworld.net

I know a lot of you use that link already, but the old links (such as http://www.eagleworld.net/egbforums and http://web.eagleworld.net:8000/egbforums) will no longer work. I put a handy-dandy redirect page for these links to remind people.

Anyway, I'm sorry I haven't been around for a while. As I'm sure plenty of you can appreciate, life keeps you busy, and I'm trying to juggle as much as I can with the time that I have. Anyway, if you have any questions about what all this crap means for the EGB forums, please feel free to ask.

Re: Website Migration - Going Off Port 8000

All,

Note that the migration should be complete, but you will need to log back in, as I have changed the cookies for the site. Please let me know if you're having any issues. In the worst-case scenario, make a thread in the Recruitment Thread (which doesn't require a login) and I can look at it. Thanks!
